I have to admit I am more engaged with Norwegian Wood; there's something gripping about Murakami's writing, which is good because this is my first Murakami. And while I am liking Blood Meridian, maybe I have to be in a certain mood for something as dark as McCarthy's style?
Anyway, do you read multiple books at once? Or are you like me who find it almost impossible to do so?
Reading multiple books at once is something I do. Not as often these days though cause life stuff makes it hard to focus on just one book at once, but if I read the book fast I can usually read another one immediately afterward. Recently got through these three serials, different parts of the same novella, that way in one day.
ReplyDeleteNice! I wish I could do that, but I just get too distracted. I think reading novellas are a great idea though.
DeleteIf I am going through a reading spree, I generally have multiple books going on at once. Otherwise, it's just one at a time. Norwegian Wood is on my wishlist - hopefully sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteNorwegian Wood is so well-written! I hope you read it.
DeleteJillian, I can do it but they have to be really dissimilar from one another; otherwise, I get the characters mixed up and forget which details belong to which story line - ha! I have terrible short-term memory problems! I've not begun reading Murakami, but I think I'd like to; you're inspiring me to jump in!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely try it! Murakami is a strange writer, but I think that's the appeal!
DeleteI can usually start two books, but once I'm really into one story, I tend to focus solely on that book until I finish it. I will sometimes have several books going at once, just in the early stages, as I try to gauge what mood I'm in. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I'm like that too. I try different books, and then decide.
DeleteI guess I usually read one book at a time. But these days I'm reading one book and listening to an audiobook which I find works.
ReplyDeleteAudiobooks are a great idea!
DeleteI've never been able to read two books at the same time. I've tried in the past but inevitably I end up reading very little or just focusing on one and forgetting the other. To be honest from what I've heard about Blood Meridian it seems like a good you have to really dedicate yourself to so it's probably not a good one to reading conjunction with another, especially a book as absorbing as Norwegian Wood.
