Book-Inspired Outfits: Hogwarts Edition

Thursday, August 11, 2011

The first time I did this, I focused on some of the women in the Classics genre. I got good feedback from that, so I wanted to do another one - focusing on some YA characters. For the third one, I thought it'd be fun to focus on the four houses at Hogwarts. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Again, these are just inspired outfits - mostly from their colors, and not necessarily from the actual characters in the books.

---

GRYFFINDOR
Scarlet and Gold
bravery, courage, and chivalry
gryffindor inspired outfits

SLYTHERIN
Green and Silver
ambitious, cunning, resourceful, manipulative

slytherin inspired

RAVENCLAW
Blue and Bronze
intelligence, knowledge, and wit <- my favorite house for some reason!

ravenclaw inspired

HUFFLEPUFF
Yellow and Black
patience, loyalty, hard work, friendships
hufflepuff inspired

----

Again, these are just inspired outfits. You can always mix it up, change it up, and do it differently according to your own personality and taste. I for one chose these outfits mainly because I personally would wear it.
Now I have to admit I had the most difficult time with Ravenclaw. For some reason, I couldn't get a "blue and bronze vision." Maybe because I don't feel like they really match. Ha.
Anyway, I encourage (and challenge!) you to do house-inspired outfits too. Either link up to your actual Polyvore account or do a separate post on your own blog. Either way, have fun!

the day I watch this will signify the end of my childhood.

I really liked the HP7PT1 mainly because it seemed to be for the fans. It focused on my favorite trio and their relationship with each other, and it just seemed so genuine. Because of that, I have faith that the final HP movie will be the best one out of the 8. And even if it isn't, in my head, it still would be. Haha.

I can not wait for this movie to come out. I am beyond excited! But I also am sort of sad in a way. I know the moment the credits come up and I'm done watching the movie, it'll be the end of a phenomenon that I grew up with. Anyone else feel the same way? It's probably weird, but that's just me, I guess. Anyway, enjoy the trailer everybody :)

P.S. - Notice how every single time Voldemort shouts, it all sounds exactly the same?? "NYEEAAHHHHHH!!!!!!" I should wear a shirt that says that when I watch this.

couldn't resist posting.

The last two pictures below are my favorite. If you know where the dialogue below comes from, 10000000000 points for you! ;)

About a year ago, I found out about the new Hary Potter themed amusement park that was being built in Orlando, Florida. This spring, it's finally opening!

(actual amusement park castle)

Oh Florida, why do you have to be soooo far??!

p.s.- The brand new commercial for this will also be shown during the Superbowl this Sunday. Be on the look out! :)

If you haven't already..

It's really not too late to start reading them.

And believe it or not, from when I was 12 until today, it actually still is (are) my favorite books of all time.

They really are as good as everyone says they are.

(but no, unfortunately, just watching the movies doesn't count)

except maybe to watch him.
