Since I've been having a horrible reading slump these past few months, I haven't bought or read a single book. Yesterday though, I finally, thankfully, felt this sudden craving to get a new book. I missed this feeling so much. So today, I decided to get one that I've been really wanting to read for a while now - The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
I think I can safely say, having read all of his books now - except for Paper Towns - that John Green has definitely made it to my top 'inspirational people' list. He is an amazing writer, author, person, spokesperson, and of course, an awesome leader of an even more awesome community called Nerdfighteria.
That being said, I was ecstatic when I saw it was available.
And not just available.
It was SIGNED.
And as if those weren't enough, when I turned to the first chapter, a little friendly note surprised me.
It just literally made my day so much better.
Made me proud being part of John Green and his brother, Hank Green's, huge and awesome project even more.
Has this ever happened to you?
Found a note inside a book? Feels so much personal that way for some reason.
Anyway, share your stories! And if you are familiar with the vlogbrothers.... then, DFTBA!

ReplyDeleteHow cool :) I have never read John Green, but read some great reviews on this one so I reserved it. I had no idea what DFTBA is so I had to google :) Hope this one gets you out of the hole!
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend you reading Looking for Alaska if you'd like :) John Green's one unique writer!
DeleteThat is totally cool Jillian, fingers crossed for getting you out of the slump - it definitely gave you a meant to be moment.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Thanks always, Marce!
DeleteOh that sounds super cool! I like notes too but that never happens to me :)
ReplyDeleteThat has never happened to me too until today!! :) So someday it could happen to you too ;)
DeleteI recently found a nerdfighter note in a copy of Paper Towns and totally freaked out. But since I already have the book, and am a nerdfighter, I decided to leave it for someone else. Next time I go, though, I am going to leave some of my own :)

That is awesome! I have not read Paper Towns but am so excited to. I am halfway done with TFiOS and I think I am in love.
DeleteAnd that's a good idea. Maybe sometime soon I will leave my own too :)
That's so exciting. I've always wanted to find a nerdfighter note!
ReplyDeleteWe should put notes in books ourselves, Kathy!
DeleteI loved this book and I so envy you! :)

ReplyDeleteI hope this helps with your reading slump!
Thanks, Kate! I'm sure a fellow nerdfighter will find you soon enough!
DeleteSo awesome! I just picked up a signed copy of this book myself! Perhaps it should be my next read!
ReplyDeleteP.S.
I totally googled nerdfighters and DFTBA! :D
Yay for discovering them, Holly! =]
DeleteThat IS pretty cool! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting that you found a note and it does feel more personal, as you said. Finding a note like that is bound to put a smile on your face & help with your slump. YAY! :D
ReplyDeleteMy friend & I found a nerdfighter note in a copy of Paper Towns, early last year, that said there was going to be a Scottish Nerdfighter Gathering in Glasgow with their twitter names. So we added ours, got in touch and ended up going to the gathering. It was so good! Then a girl from Germany @replied us all saying she bought the book while she was on holiday here!
Yep, I love Nerdfighteria. lol! I feel like going out and leaving notes after reading your post. My day-off this week now has plans ;) DFTBA (sorry for the essay btw)
