how many books did you read + 2012 goals

Sunday, January 1, 2012

In 2010, I was able to reach my annual goal of reading 100 books a year for the first time, reading about 120 books. In 2011, it may be that things have just been more hectic around here, or I haven't really found a new 'favorite.' Maybe it's the combination of that plus being lazy. Haha. Regardless, I'm happy I was able to read a few memorable ones out of the 70 books I was able to read.
This new year, I would like to be able to read at least 100 books again. This may or may not happen, but it's fun trying to reach the goal anyway.

I'm curious as to how you did in 2011 and what your reading goals are this 2012! What were your favorites from the past year? Let me know so I could check those out too. I hope you are having a wonderful start of the new year!

  1. I didn't reach 100 this year either. The first 3 current posts on my blog talks about my fav in 2011, reflection on goals set in 2011, and goals for 2012. Happy new year!

  2. Congrats on reading 70 books in 2011 - that's definitely an achievement (and surely more than the average reader!).

Fingers crossed you're able to reach your personal target this year - I'm hoping to read 120 books (eep!)

  3. I normally set my goal to 100, but in 2011 I set it to 50 because I knew I wouldn't have much reading time since I had my son in March. But I was able to reach 50! I read 71 books in 2011. This year I'm setting it to 60, and I'll see what I'll be at.

I'm going to set monthly goals. Try and read at least one more book each month than I did in 2011. I only read 3 books in January 2011, so I'm going to AT LEAST try for 4 this year. =D

Hope you had a wonderful holiday and new years!

  5. lol Jillian, you still did better than me, hun! This year I'm only setting a goal of 50 books - a nice, relatively easy number. Good luck with your goal this year, and I'll be checking in with you later! <3

  6. I am glad you enjoyed Anna and the French Kiss and The Bell Jar. I'd rather read a few books that were excellent than a bunch of books that are average or duds.

In 2011, I read 121 books and for 2012 I am hoping to read a few more than that. I don't know if I will make it but I will at least try.

  7. Happy New Year :) I'd love to be able to read 100 books in a year, but my page count average would have to be small and I'd miss out on some great chunksters. Hmmm...what to do?

  9. Happy New Year Jillian! Your result is not so bad! I read 84 books in 2011 and plan to reach 100 in 2012.
I have to read Anna and the french kiss, I read very good reviews of it.
Several of my favourites of 2011 were Soulless by Gail Carriger, Water for elephants, The Guernsey literary potato peel club and a much less famous book : a country year by Sue Hubbell.
Hope you have lots of good reads in 2012!

  10. Dang girl, 70 books?! That's pretty awesome that you've read 100 books in a year. I read about 35 this year. I'd like to set myself a goal of 50 for 2012, but I start college this year so I don't know how that will work out.
