Books I Plan To Read in May

Friday, May 1, 2015

I read 7.5 books in April, which makes me happy. I love when I am on a reading high. I am determined to make May just as good, if not even better. Here are the five books I'm planning to read this month.

  • On my Kindle - borrowed from the library - A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
  • Tess of the d' Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
  • The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac
  • The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
  • The Good Girl by Mary Kubica
Have you read any of these books and what did you think? Also, let me know what's on your TBR list for this month! Happy reading!

  3. I haven't read any of those books but I've heard great things about all the ones I've heard of. I've had a couple of blogging friends rave about A Little Life but from what I've heard it's really emotionally destroying (and long), so you'll have to brace yourself for it. Tess Of The D'Ubervilles and The Handmaid's Tale are both really highly regarded by basically everyone too so I'm sure you'll like them. I haven't heard of the other two but hopefully they'll be good. I can't wait to see what you think of these books!

    1. Emotionally destroying? Oh my goodness. That is actually what I keep hearing as well so I am a little scared and intimidated to get into it.

  4. A Little Life is AMAZING! Prepare for tears. You're smart getting the ebook, though. I carried around an enormous hardcover forever. Such a work out. I've been curious about Handmaid's Tale for such a long time. I hope it's good!

    1. I am so excited for A Little Life. I've heard nothing but great things about it! And yes, I actually prefer paperback copies over hardbound just for the same reasons you mentioned! It is so much harder to bring it everywhere!

  5. I didn't know Jack Kerouac had a book named The Dharma Bums. Need to check it out. Hope you have a great May - I do want to check out both of Hanya Yanagihara's books.

    1. Yes. I believe he wrote that right after On the Road!

  6. Ohhh I loved The Handmaid's Tale & Tess for very different reasons & quite a few of the same.
Both books made me angry - Tess for the actual treatment of women and THT for the potential appalling treatment of women. Both books left me wondering where we are now as far as gender equality goes.

I look forward to your reviews :-)
