Synopsis: From a top secret government laboratory come two genetically altered life forms. One is a magnificent dog of astonishing intelligence. The other, a hybrid monster of a brutally violent nature. And both are on the loose... Bestselling author Dean Koontz presents his most terrifying, dramatic, and moving novel: the explosive story of a man and a woman caught in a relentless storm of mankind's darkest creation.

So far: I am getting the rush that any book lover feels when he or she gets to discover a new awesome read. And I am so excited about it! I am only on the 5th chapter, but already, I can not put this book down. I hope it lives up to expectations until the end as this was highly recommended to me by several trusted bloggers.

This is also actually my first Dean Koontz novel. I have no idea why I have never read any of his works, but it seems like I should start reading more now. So if you have any Koontz recommendations or maybe another book that is sort of similar to Watchers, please do let me know.

Let me know also what you are currently reading right now, and how you're finding it so far. Happy Reading!

  1. Sounds like a great book. I'm reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (yes, I've only discovered it now) and I didn't do so much for me the first hundred pages (out of eight hundred and something) but I'm past page 300 now and can't put it down.

  2. It sounds familiar hmmm, but nope, don't think I've heard of this one. Currently I'm reading my lame textbook hahaha. Might try to fit in some reading sometime today :)

  3. I haven't read anything by Dean Koontz yet but I really need to. I also haven't read anything by Stephen King, another author I need to try.

I just finished Silent on the Moor by Deanna Raybourn and I'm currently slowly making my way through Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini and My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira.

  4. So glad you are liking it since I'm the first one who mentioned it too you. Isn't Einstein amazing?

Koontz is a good storyteller-- I used to read all his books then I OD'd and had to take a long long break-- the books get formualaic character-wise. Some that were my faves: Intensity (so intense, I have no need to ever read another serial killer thriller); Fear Nothing (semi-sequel to Watchers); TickTock (maybe-- if it had a dog in it-- Koontz writes great dogs).

Friends/family have recommended the Odd Thomas series and Frankenstein series but I haven't read those yet.

Oh, I know that rush you mean, Jillian! I'm excited on your behalf!

Dean Koontz is another writer I've been wanting to get into for a while (I already read one of his books, but it wasn't among his best); but I keep putting it off because I already have so many books I have to read first.

  6. Lightning is one of my favourites by him. I have Watchers on my Kindle and also hear great things about Intensity.

Enjoy, look forward to your review.

  7. Pepca - Well, you're a step ahead of me because I have not read anything from Gabaldon. I keep putting it off!

Aly - Aw lame textbooks are no fun! Unless it's like a HP/LOTR text book or something. LOL. Funny because there's actually a class for those two series where I go to school! I want to take them so bad but I know it'd be a waste of money. Haha.

Christina T - Ohh I haven't read a lot of Stephen King's books but have read his most popular ones. I suggest you start with The Shining! Haha. Just my opinion :) Oh and I definitely want to read Starcrossed soon.

Lesa - Yes, it was you that recommended it to me, thanks! And thanks for your advice. I would probably NOT read Koontz in order so that I don't get tired of his same-same patterns.

E - My mom used to read a lot of Koontz but before, I always thought the plot lines sound boring. (Of course I was much younger back then!) But now I'm excited to discover more.

Marce - Lightning has been recommended twice now; I think I'm convinced! I will try to borrow that one next. Oh and I can't wait to hear what you think of Watchers when you get to read it!

  8. Enbrethiliel: Yes, you ought to try more of his books especially since you like horror movies. Even his nonhorror books usually have suspense and creepiness.

Also, his books are super fast reads like romances so are great filler reads between more weighty books.

  9. I'm a big fan of Koontz. Strangers and By The Light of the Moon were both good, old Koontz reads also.
