I also aim to re-read these two. I've read Slaughterhouse Five a few years ago, and is one of the most influential books in my life. I want to re-read TFIOS by John Green just because I want to see it from a different perspective this time around, before the movie adaptation comes out in the summer time.
I am very curious to hear what's on your immedate tbr as well as your re-read pile!
The Bloody Chamber is excellent, I read it last year and was honestly blown away.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to see your thoughts on Ariel too, I'm a fan of Sylvia Plath but haven't read it yet.
I have just started to discover Angela Carter, and I am soooo impressed. I love her style and can't wait to read more from her.
DeleteI really enjoyed The Husband's Secret. I love Vonnegut and I'm planning on rereading TFIOS too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Plath's Ariel yet, but I'd like to. I love/hate The Bell Jar. I mostly love it, but it always throws me into a depression when I read it... The was one semester in college that I had to read it multiple times to write a few papers on it and I was a mess!
ReplyDeleteMy immediate TBR includes Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, OH for a Midwestern Lit seminar and Taco USA for my Story of Food seminar. I'm also reading a couple different biographies of Edith Piaf for an independent study French course. I'm not sure what I'll be reading for fun yet... I just started Kimberly Pauley's Ask Me - about a teenaged oracle - and a like that so far!
I agree with you with The Bell Jar. I LOVE it in so many ways that I can't even explain, but it really does make me think of such depressing things. I am definitely interested in reading biographies about Edith Piaf if you would recommend the best ones!
DeleteI think I should re-read TFIOS, too! I loved it when I first read it, but I'd love to read it a bit more objectively.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I read that book in one sitting and loved every moment of it, mainly also because I was just so excited to finally be reading it. I should really try it again, like you said, more objectively.
DeleteI love reading other people's TBRs! And re-reading The Fault is a good choice because it's a great book :) Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy S... I love that one sooo much!
