will always go back to this feeling I feel about books.

After a busy day at work and a good night watching the new movie, About Time, with my best friend, I finally got to go home and relax. Granted I work tomorrow (Sunday at 8:30am), but there are just some things I will never stop loving.

I have been away from this blog for a long time - in a way, I took a long break unwillingly. I have always loved blogging, but life has been busy, and I have taken a step back. Lately though, I have been feeling inspired by so many things that it's causing me to discover new books, new blogs, and a new energy to blog again. I also have been rereading old favorites, which I think, always helps spark creativity. Tonight, these two precious books are keeping me company.

No matter what, there is truly something about going back to pick up a familiar book. It almost feels like saying a little hello to an old friend you haven't spoken to in a while. It's such a comforting, peaceful feeling - being there in your version of a safe place.

  1. I've been mostly away from blogging (and reading) this year, too, unwillingly, as you say. And I agree, old favourites are what helps me at least read something and wills me too want to blog again. Oh, and guess what, I've been rereading The Book thief as well. :)

I like what you said about rereading your favourites being like visiting an old friend, I feel like that as well. It really is a nice comforting feeling.

  2. You can't beat an old favourite when you're a little tired, or not very motivated, or ill, or... well, any time really. I bought a beautiful new copy of The Secret Garden yesterday for that very reason - because it's been one of my favourites since I was a little girl and I wanted a lovely edition to keep on my bookshelves for those days when I just want some comfort reading. :)

I hope you're enjoying the renewed zest for books and blogging - the sheer enthusiasm and happiness of rediscovering your mojo sometimes makes the long slump worth it!

  3. I love both of those books. I've reread The Book Thief multiple times and just reread The Thirteenth Tale last week. I think you're completely right about returning to old friends by rereading them. I've learned to appreciate that over the last year.

  4. I've been away as well. Though I'm not big on rereading books, something often reminds me of a favorite read and I'm taken back to the moment I read it. It is such a wonderful feeling.
