where I'd rather be reading.

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

This week, there's some sort of crazy heat wave going on around here in Northern California, and it's driving me nuts that I can't wear summer-weather appropriate clothing to work. Haha. But anyway, today, I was reading outside for my lunch break, and it was really nice. But for some reason, I was in this 'day dream mode' and was trying to imagine myself reading somewhere else instead.

Somewhere in the country.. at a cozy cottage, where there's a beautiful garden full of different types of flowers. There's a reading nook, complete with light blankets and floral pillows. The weather is just right - warm enough, with just the right amount of breeze. There will probably be iced tea waiting on a small table next to the reading nook, but I think I would be too engrossed with my book to even care about it.

So I know this is a rather dreamy and random post, but hey, I'm curious as to what you think! If you could go anywhere right now, or this week, to read, where would you go?

  1. :-) Love it. I'd wanna read somewhere like that. Or on a really big porch swing out under some trees.

  2. That's a wonderful spot you have introduced there. It wouldn't exactly work for me because it is so darn hot in Texas. I would like to read under a covered portion with a overhead fan.

  3. Wow, that sounds pretty ideal. I just like to read outside, in general (though preferably not when it's too hot). But it's been raining the past few days, unfortunately.

  4. Wildish Rose - That swing idea is AWESOME. I could just imagine it!

Alexis - I can imagine how hot it is in Texas right now! It's 95deg here in California and we're already burning.

Aylee - I don't like 'too hot' weathers either! It's been so way too hot around here. Where are you from?

  5. I have a swing and in the Fall I bring my blankets outside. It almost looks like your photo, but it is getting warmer and the humidity is climbing, so right now, inside the air-conditioned house I go:)

  7. Wow! That sounds great! I would love something like that. It's too hot to read outside where I live though.

  8. That picture...I would LOVE to curl up there and read! Honestly, as much as winter sucks out my soul, I love reading by a snowy window with a roaring fire in the background :)

BookQuoter - Yes I've seen your swing in pictures! It looks really nice.

Coffee and a book chick - Yay. Glad you like it too.

Misha - Thankfully, it's not painfully hot here. I know if I lived in Arizona or Texas, it would be though!

Melissa - I LOVE Winter too. It's my favorite season to be honest!

Marce - You live in Bermuda? I didn't know that!

  15. I couldn't agree more! The heat wave we have here is killing me. And if I could pick any place to read, it would definitely be in the countryside.
For me, a fine summer includes some time when I read lying on the grass with birds/butterflys etc. around me. The picture in your post is basically the most perfect place on earth to do that!

  16. Touloulou - Ahhh birds and butterflies... well that adds so much to the dream land that I'm thinking of!! And the countryside is the perfect place to unwind especially after all the busy-ness of the city.
