"I would be the most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves." - Anna Quindlen
And people don't understand why I tell them my bookcases are small. As far as I'm concerned, anything that can be picked up and moved into or out of a room is small.
Bookcases that are the room? Well, that depends on the size of the room itself, but we can start talking about medium sized storage now. =P
*sigh*.... These are my dream spaces. My sisters a big cooking buff, kinda like I am towards reading, and she always talks about her dream kitchen where I talk about my dream Library, and it is gonna have one of those wheelable ladders around the top like the second picture. GREAT POST
I am so envious and so inspired... There is absolutely too much bare wall space in my house. You've convinced me that book shelves are the obvious fix. Love this post.
Alas, it's true. One cannot live with piles of books alone; one must have places to put them. So that one can make even larger piles on the floor ;) Gorgeous, all.
@Enbrethiliel: I know exactly what you mean. I guess I have an average-person (not a bookworm's) bookshelf. But after looking at these, it just makes my bookshelf even smaller -- and leaving me a bit envious! lol.
@Sarah: These are my dream spaces as well. I keep telling myself, one of the main staples of my own house -- when I do get mine in the not-so near future -- would definitely be a cozy home library. I actually remember working for BORDERS, and one of my favorite perks that I get is using the 'wheelable' ladders. Tsk, go figure. haha.
@Lynda: I too was just left feeling truly inspired by these images. Right now, I have not enough room in my bedroom for more bookshelves, but someday, I will treat myself to more. It's truly my -- and each book lover's out there -- dream space.
@ds: I agree! Another perk of owning a ton of books is looking and staring at each of them all, on neat, ahem, pretty shelves. For us book lovers, there really can never be enough space for our treasures! :)
@Steph: I love them all too. There are actually so many more images like these that I found, but had to choose these few, or else I'm going to get carried away again. Haha.
@Shweta: It is wonderful, isn't it? I think we all wish to have this kind of libraries in our own homes.
Oooo... I'd love to peruse all these libraries. Our house addition plans are starting to come together and I've told hubby the connecting room between the old and new house should be a proper library.
I'm a bit leery of the shelves above the bed pic-- I can just see the headline: 'Death by books for voracious bookworm!'
@CozyBookNook: I actually thought long and hard before about the book-above-the-bed idea, but friends and family keep responding by saying, "No Jillian, we want to see your head with no bruises and band-aids from all the books that will topple on you!" Hm. Oh well. Haha.
