Mini-Movie Review: Tangled

Sunday, December 5, 2010

Seeing this movie just brings me back so many memories as a child, falling in love with every single Disney movie -- Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast... Tangled brings us Rapunzel; a long lost princess trapped in the tower all her life. This is an old-fashioned story with a new and modern twist. What can I say? I felt like I was a kid watching a Disney classic and a princess movie all over again. Everything about this movie is reminiscent to what Disney is to me -- and what it is for so many. Tangled was cute, funny, old-fashioned, and romantic. I also loved the fact that Rapunzel was actually sort of the heroine here, and wasn't really the "damsel in distress." I adored the lead male character, and loved (and hated!) the villain. The music... well, all the songs were composed by Alan Menken; the genius behind The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, among so many others. The score and the songs truly added to the movie, creating the magic that only Disney films have. It is a good, fun, and cute film, that will surely bring back memories of your childhood. Watch it!

  2. Sounds like a sweet return visit to nostalgia :) I felt the same way watching Toy Story 3, especially the ending which had me reaching for the Kleenex. I was 9 or 10 when the 1st movie came out & it was so amazing to see an entirely computer animated movie!

  3. Ohhh sounds like an excellent film! I've yet to see this one, although I accidentally (and I still have no idea how I did it) stumbled on some VERY weird/gross fanfics for this movie on IMDB. I mean, what is the matter with some adults out there?! But it looks very well-made, and your recommendation has only made it more obvious that this is one I have to see :D

  4. Juju - Can't wait to hear what you think if you do get to watch it!

Teacher/Learner - Oh have you read my movie review for Toy Story 3? Hehe. Toy Story has got to be my favorite Pixar movie, and watching the 3rd one was just so bittersweet!!

Amelia - Tangled Fanfic?? Ah.. I suppose there's a fanfic for every single thing nowadays. I don't even read fanfic anymore because of those weird/gross ones!

  5. I had "And Now I've Seen the Light" stuck in my head for weeks after watching the movie. Mandy Moore has an amazing voice. I didn't know the man behind the score is behind so many other amazing ones. He has serious talent!
