Today's Inspiration: Work Spaces

Thursday, April 1, 2010

I woke up this morning, looking at the mess that is my desk. I'm embarrassed to say it, but it's true. Don't get me wrong, it's not dirty -- it's just all over the place! In fact, I don't know if I can even call it a 'work space' or a space that is just plain crazy; piles and piles of books, tons of post-it notes on the actual table, notebooks, notepads, a glass of water, pens & pencils scattered all over the place, along with some other office supplies...
To me, a neat, organized -- and shall I use the word dreamy -- work space actually does inspire me; when I write, finish work, maybe even homework, etc. I feel as if I work better when I like my surroundings. Maybe that's just me? Hmm.. I hope not! So this messiness is not helping me at all.
This weekend though, I will have a lot of lazy time at home (finally!) and I will have time not only to clean up, but also to rearrange things a bit. So today, I ended up looking around for different ideas on how to organize, and found so many! I couldn't stop looking at the photos of other people's desks! After a bit of that said research, I actually was left very inspired, and have to admit, feeling just a bit jealous.

So here are just some of the ones I saw and liked...!
And hey, who knows, maybe my little project will actually turn out to be successful!
Hmm... *crosses fingers*

As for my favorite..
(and to think the one with the view of the Eiffel tower isn't the one..)
What would I do to have a view like this...

How about you; how do you like your workspace?
And if I may ask, how does it look like right now?
I wonder.
Hm, I hope it's nothing like mine :/
haha.

Have a great 'Easter' weekend everyone!

  2. I LOVE the first one and the pink one!!

I've been trying to clean off my desk for months maybe almost a year now... but it's just... where else would I put all this stuff haha. I need to re-organize my ENTIRE room, I just haven't had enough off time to do so... but now that it's Spring Break... maybe I actually WILL have time!

Jillian, however bad your workspace is, it can't be worse than mine!

I'm the only writer I know who doesn't even have a proper desk! =( I did, for a while . . . then my relative whose furniture it actually was decided to move into another house, and took it with him.

  7. @Linna: The last one is such a dreaaaammm, isn't it?

@Marie: The pink one would be more me though. Looks so peaceful and serene doesn't it? I just like the "WRITE" letters on the shelf that was on the first one!

@Mizz Yasmin: Thanks so much, I'm glad you like them :) I like them too, and they truly catch my eye so I post them up! haha. And of course, our workspaces ARE NOT dirty! ;)

@naida: So do I. I recently just put those 'christmas' lights on my headboard right now, so magical at night. Now I'm tempted to put them on my bookshelves too!

@E: I have to agre, having no workspace at all is just so difficult! I know exactly what you mean by that, because I didn't have one myself for about 5 years when we lived in an apartment. I had to share my room with my sister and we barely had space for our dresser&closet, so I understand your woes. Our family of 5 also used to share one desktop computer, but that's a whole different conversation.. haha.
It's okay though, sooner or later, you'll get the space you want -- and need!! :)

@Medeia: I know, right? :) When I saw these pics I was feeling all energized to clean up and organize! Haha.

  8. I LOVE these ideas! What is it they say, "creative minds are rarely tidy." I like to be creative and organized. So, is that the real Eiffel tower or a picture of one? :) That last picture sure is serene.

  9. All of those workspaces are gorgeous and very neat. I wrote most of my books on a laptop in bed with notes and research books open all over the blankets. (20-40 books scattered on the floor by the bed, some books open, others closed)

Now I have a messy writing office, which is a big step in the right direction. Only a week or two ago, for the first time ever, I finally "got" desk space! This has been an enormous help.
